The 2017 Showcase, set for Saturday, June 24, in the Golden Triangle, will feature both national names and local favorites on two main stages — watch for Americana crooner Shakey Graves, soulful rock-and-rollers the Revivalists, electronic masters Cut Copy and Bob Moses, as well as indie pop's COIN — and Denver's best local bands at nearly a dozen venues in the Golden Triangle. All of those local acts will be chosen from this Showcase ballot.

Every answer is automatically saved, but may be changed up until the close of the poll, at which time all saved answers are submitted for counting.

When the Westword Music Showcase began way back in 1995, it boasted forty local bands at live-music venues in LoDo and no national headliners. But like Denver, this annual celebration of the music scene has just gotten bigger and better. The 2017 Showcase, set for Saturday, June 24, in the Golden Triangle, will feature both national names and local favorites on two main stages watch for Americana crooner Shakey Graves, soulful rock-and-rollers the Revivalists, electronic masters Cut Copy and Bob Moses, as well as indie pop's COIN and Denver's best local bands at nearly a dozen venues in the Golden Triangle. All of those local acts will be chosen from this Showcase ballot.

To pick the local nominees, we asked over 200 of the state's music experts, ranging from talent buyers to studio owners to fans, to nominate their favorite hometown acts. The results represent a wide swath of Colorado music, including both well-known names and bands and artists who have never been nominated before. Nearly 200 finalists from that nominating process are listed here. We've separated them by genre, but read those designations with caution: These days, most musicians find influences across many sonic aisles. A jazz artist might incorporate hip-hop; a rock band might borrow from Beethoven.

You may notice that some big local acts, such as Nathaniel Rateliff, are excluded from the ballot; that's simply because they’ve won multiple times in the past, and we're making room for more up-and-comers. So take a look at our nominated acts, choose your favorites, and get ready to see many of them at the Showcase. These categories, like the awards themselves, are intended as a starting point for exploring the local scene.

Deadline for voting is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 25. Cast your vote online at westwordshowcase.com, or drop paper ballots at the Westword office, 969 Broadway, during business hours.
